Building Hope, One Home at a Time: Habitat for Humanity of Wausau’s Home Build Program

At the heart of the Home Build Program are the dedicated volunteers who generously contribute hundreds of volunteer hours each year. These volunteers, from all walks of life, come together with a shared goal: to build homes and build hope. Their commitment and hard work are the driving force behind the success of Habitat Wausau’s home builds.

But the impact of the Home Build Program extends far beyond the volunteers. Homeowners also play a crucial role, contributing 300 plus hours of sweat equity to the construction of their own homes. This not only helps to keep costs down but also fosters a sense of pride and ownership in the homeowners, empowering them to take control of their future.

In addition to the volunteers and homeowners, the Home Build Program relies on the generosity of in-kind donors. These donors provide essential items such as appliances, windows, and furnaces, helping to make each home safe, comfortable, and functional. Their contributions are invaluable and greatly appreciated by Habitat Wausau and the families they serve.

Furthermore, Habitat for Humanity of Wausau is committed to trades education, recognizing the importance of providing young people with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the construction industry. Through partnerships with both the Mosinee and DC Everest High School Construction programs, Habitat Wausau is able to offer hands-on training and real-world experience to students interested in pursuing a career in the trades.

The Home Build Program is more than just a construction project. It is a testament to the power of community, of coming together to make a positive impact in the lives of others. Through the hard work and dedication of volunteers, homeowners, donors, and partners, Habitat for Humanity of Wausau is able to build hope, one home at a time.
